Financial Training
TABF’s Training and Development Institute serves to provide for the systemized learning development of banking and finance personnel, to cultivate internationally competitive high-grade talent for Taiwan’s financial sector. In recent years, it has focused particularly on conducting crossborder exchanges on financial issues and universalizing banking and finance knowledge, employing diversified training services to cater to the varying financial education needs of different customer segments, tailoring training programs for recipients ranging from banking and finance professionals to members of the general business and industrial workforce, students, and the general public.
In 2009, the Institute conducted 1,631 training activities, participated in by a total of 72,397 people (see Table 3 for full details). As well as conducting specialized banking and finance courses on such subjects as wealth management, business financing, and risk management, the Institute actively collaborated with various banking and finance related organizations, universities, consulting firms, and educational and training institutes – including the Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable, the Bankers Association, the Trust Association, the Taiwan Futures Exchange, universities, and transnational management consulting firms – to organize study and discussion activities. The Institute also joined forces with local governments nationwide in supporting central government activities to publicize and explain laws and policies and to spread financial knowledge. In addition, the Institute responded to the increasingly competitive operating conditions created by globalization, and to the government’s cross-strait opening policy, by initiating cross-strait banking and finance related training activities and promoting exchanges and mutual visits between banking and finance personnel across the Taiwan Strait, to support the westward penetration of Taiwan’s financial sector, and move closer to achieving the vision of establishing TABF as an Asia-Pacific stronghold of financial research and training.
